The problem of resource sharing between one or more institutions is old. Over time solutions were designed so that resources could be shared among students and faculty of various institutions. This final project shows the differences of the two models used in the eduacation federation: Shibboelth and simpleSAMLphp. The comparisons range from the concept of the two solutions to the problems of security and single logout. They are treated in seven points that were considered key to the reader, and by this way he becomes familiar with the technologies, and able to choose the best solution for using in his own federation. This document has references of the use of federation, as well as information about the infrastructure that the application uses.
