Resumo:
In recent years, consumers of sports goods and media have become more demanding, mainly due to a greater access to information made possible by the internet and other channels. The relevance of sports-driven consumption to many enterprises has been established in various studies. Given this scenario, this research offers a study about the motivations behind the consumption of soccer fans through the use of the Motivation Scale for Sport Consumption (Trail e James, 2001). We seek to understand what drives the fans to consume products or services related to their teams. With this goal in mind, a questionnaire addressed to the fans was designed, seeking to measure constructs related to the problem and provide a better understanding of the consumers motivations. The results show that the scale is reliable and the factors Escape and Achievement are the ones that influence the fans consumption.
