Resumo:
Searching for profitability improvement, brazilian exporters seek for investments in assets resulting not only from its commercial purpose, for example, derivatives. However, these organizations are facing the risks of the abrupt variation of exchanging rates, especially after the international financial crisis of 2008. Investing in derivatives can be seen as a good opportunity for profit; however the application may suffer the opposite effect and generate losses. This study aims to examinate the operation with the Target Forward derivative used by Company Aracruz Celulose, as well as explains the intentions of the company when using this exotic derivative before the financial crisis of 2008.
