Resumo: | |||||||||||||
The main goal of this paper is to provide an overview of the difficulties
faced by micro and small enterprises (MSEs) in access to bank credit, more
precisely to the lines of funding available to this segment of companies. To
perform this analysis, this work made use of the application of a questionnaire to
micro and small entrepreneurs selected for convenience. Of the data found, the
cost factor was named as the most difficult to access credit, confirming thus that
the studies Viol e Rodrigues (2000) and Santos (2004) predicted. Moreover, it
was revealed that knowledge about the sources of finance available to MSEs is
low, which hinders the uptake of the line that best fits each company. The
research results showed, then, that the preferred source of funding of these
companies is determined by the context in which they live, where the prevailing
lack of information by lines of credit and its remote access to, as the theory of
Gama et al. (2000) assumes.
