Resumo:
The main objective of this case study was to present the main difficulties encountered by Vale during each stage of their internationalization strategy using one of the ways of entering on different countries, the international acquisition. And so, propose ways to soften such difficulties, avoiding weakening the relationship between the acquirer and the acquired, resulting in financial losses. For this purpose was realized a case study analysis of the acquisition of the Canadian company INCO by Vale. This acquisition had a large impact to the organization due to the high amount invested and the long period that local workers went on strike for lack of labor agreement between the parties involved. The results indicated that the main problems for this case are directly related to the strong organizational culture of INCO and the difficulty of Vale to integrate and obtain synergy between the headquarters and its subsidiary.
