Resumo:
The oil industry works with non-renewable energy sources, which means that once a reservoir runs its course, it cannot be regenerated. This implies the existence of a limit to the life of every oil-producing well. Often times, when its life reaches an end, it is necessary to isolate and abandon the well. This process is done by inserting a cement plug into its interior. Cement being denser than the well fluid (this can be drilling mud or not), tends to deposit. The purpose of this project was to evaluate through computational methods, the effect of fluid rheology on this process, in order to determine the plug´s effectiveness.
