Resumo:
The years of 2008 and 2009 have provided the world an experience that we haven’t seen so long: an economic crisis with global proportions. With its epicenter on the United States, but having effects practically to all the countries of the world, the financial crisis has caused changes in patterns of production and consumption in different sectors. Even after everything that happened, the luxury market, represented by good brands and by costumers with a different behavior, in the most part of the time, this people didn’t change their attitude. Watching the current economic crisis, which affects pratically all people, we can make the following question: Will the Brazilian costumers change their behavior of buying high-luxury clothes because of the financial crisis? This study attempts to answer this question from the report of six consumers interviewed in depth. The method used is qualitative in nature, from the content analysis of responses obtained. It is concluded that the current crisis did not affect significantly the pattern of the consumption of these people. On the contrary, it has offered better conditions for purchases, increasing the volume of acquisitions in the period, especially abroad.
