The objective of this study was to provide an improved understanding of the
work relationship between trainees studying Business Administration, taking into
consideration particularly their perceptions and ambitions. The basis for this
study was the concept of the psychological contract, to find out how expectations
are created, to understand how such expectations might not be met, potentially
causing a breach of this contract. The concepts of perception of fairness and
commitment as to how these factors influence the trainee program were also
used as support. The research comprised a qualitative data analysis, focusing
on Brazilian students studying at private universities. The results were altogether
relevant, and successfully revealed that certain matters such as learning is highly
valued by the trainee in the search for an apprentice program, in addition to the
view some trainees have about corporate attitudes.
