In this study we analyze the economic feasibility of an
investment in a
nursery, next to the Escola Alfa, a family business in the
city of Macaé, Rio de
Janeiro, Brazil. The school will soon receive significant
financial support from its
capitalist investor, which will be used to purchase a plot
of land adjoining Escola
Alfa, along with other investments necessary to implement
the nursery project. By
defining a few parameters and assumptions of the project,
we estimate the
expected future cash flows, the initial costs and the NPV
and IRR of the project.
With a NPV of R$ 169.441,73 and an IRR of 27%, our
conclusion is that the
project is feasible and that the investment should be made,
given a cost of equity
capital of 18% per year.
