Resumo: | |||||||||||||
The Constant pursue for quality warranty and the
improvement in productivity by
enterprises has inspired this work, in which a case study
was carried out by an
automobile shock-absorber industry. This essay aims at
showing the use of Six
Sigma methodology for loss reduction in one of the steps of
the process, the
Vulcanization, where a loss of raw material - rubber- was
observed due to excess
of burr in the parts caused by problems in molds, in the
process and in the press.
This burr excess led to rework by operators as well as to
additional costs. A
teamwork was formed to focus attention on loss reduction on
breaking paradigm
in the enterprise that it is not possible to eliminate
losses within the process. Using
the DMAIC tool, the problem was identified and its possible
causes. Later,
possibilities for improvements were analysed and action
plans defined by the
teamwork. At the end of the work, the timing of the
operations had been improved
abd reduced, generating financial gains. Besides that, the
teamwork involved has
been more technically developed, allowing the Six Sigma to
be implemented in
other areas of the enterprise.
