Resumo:
This research elaborates propositions on how low income consumers strive to solve their food consumption problems imposed by severe financial constraints. It focuses specifically on the how these consumers attempt to increase the amount of food to share, being this concern central to their consumption behavior. By way of personal interviews, the study collected a significant amount of data that led to a classification scheme. This classification schemes sheds light on the mess low income consumers go through due to their financial limitations. The research concludes with propositions that emerged from three major components of the proposed classification model of food consumption: sufficiency, abundance and efficiency.
