Resumo:
The present study applies Michael Porter´s generic strategy of focus on cost. The study will guide the implementation of a new company, Manufacturing Music, a manufacturer of artisan musical instruments. The generic strategy will be implemented by means of Porter´s theories of competitive dimensions and value chain. The company will try to obtain competitive advantage through low cost and will serve a niche of the musical instruments market - the poor communities envolved with music -, with simplified processes and use of alternative and low cost raw materials.
