In search of an improvement of the complex logistic operational process of supplying of its 53 warehouses, Furnas Centrais Elétricas SA modified its strategy in order to reduce costs, to improve the services and to gain flexibility through the project named Project of Warehouse Potentialization. This work's aim is to demonstrate and to analyze, in details, the strategy adopted by FURNAS. To do so, the reasons to unverticalize or to internally manage the logistic operations will be studied, as well as models of distribution structures and how they can contribute, in an efficient way, to the goals of service levels; and also the use of the information technology, which assists the communication and automation of the warehouses.
