Resumo:
There are many important processes in industry that use liquid displacement of immiscible fluids in tubes. Some practical applications include enhanced oil recovery, cementation of drilling wells and coating of internal surfaces of the tubes. For a good understanding of these problems, it is extremely important to study the governing parameters, beyond the understanding of the mechanism of liquid displacement and the determination of the amount of liquid that is left behind adjacent to the wall. At coating of internal surfaces of the tubes, for example, it is intended that this amount of liquid be steady. At this work, the analysis followed according to a numerical approach. Some qualitative comparisons with experimental results are shown, so that the numerical results can be validated.
