Resumo:
More than a hundred years ago, Jorge Luis Borges (1899-1986) wrote the verses of Fervor de Buenos Aires (1923). This Book is consisting by a set of poems that have undergone constant modifications throughout their re-editions, consequently producing a significant number of variations. The purpose of this dissertation is indicate reading paths of Fervor from the edition of the writer s Complete Works (1923-1972) that were published in 1974 by Emecé Editores, through signs left by the writer – the metaphors and transformations of Buenos Aires – but also, through two guides chosen by the reader, the notions of modernity and nostalgia. The nostalgic tone is at first perceived as a constant search, among fragmented and invented memories, for an increasingly porous time in the face of an unknown future. Moreover, reading from 1974 editionallows us to glimpse another aspect of this nostalgic writing, Borges own poeticexercises.
