Resumo:
In the last few years the enterprise valuation process has been one of the most important and explored subject in corporate finance. This theme draw the attention of the academics worldwide. As a matter of fact, it also appears as an important aspect to the executives in order to enhance the stocks value and also to the Governments to create a development plans and politics. Recently researches to define what determine the value of the companies are point out to the influence of internal variables such as: operational and efficiency indexes. On the other hand academic works, pushed by Porter (1980) theories, have shown the importance of environmental issues combined with internal aspects in a valuation process. However, is become quite clear for everybody that a comprehensive analysis is fundamental to approach figures of the financial theory to the numbers from the market valuation models. Moreover it is important to emphasize that only considering environment and observe the big picture - internal and external issues - would be possible justify the differences between the value of similar companies observed in a real world. Based on the current works developed by academics this report is proposing an investigation about the influence of the environment in the company valuation process. This work will analyze if the localization of companies is determinant for its value, take into account social, economic and cultural issues. This text will be supported by the analysis of the relationship between the environment and company values using the most recent techniques of multivariate analysis. This methodology will be used to study how social, cultural, economic and political aspects are related with company value. Throughout the text we also make reference to the recent academic papers related to the issues which we judge are important and enrich the discussion.
