Resumo:
This research, developed in Administration and, above all, in the field of career studies, has as its central purpose to investigate the contextual conditions that influence the professional trajectory of artists from the lower classes, focusing on the experience of individuals trained by the cultural association Nós do Morro. The research is based on the premise that career studies often emphasize individual agency and the mobilization of personal competences by artists, disregarding the structural influence of the social context in the construction of these careers. Based on Pierre Bourdieu s theory of practice, the thesis analyzes how the concepts of habitus, field and capital (cultural, social, economic and symbolic) interact to shape the opportunities and challenges faced by these professionals. The study seeks to understand how these artists negotiate and manage their capital to enter and remain in the competitive performing arts market, marked by selectivity and the strong presence of social networks. The research adopts a qualitative approach, with interviews and analysis of the trajectories of artists who have passed through Nós do Morro, an institution recognized for training actors from the Vidigal community for the cultural market. The results show that, although these individuals have gained space in the creative industry, their trajectories are strongly crossed by structural barriers and dynamics of symbolic and material exclusion. Thus, the study contributes to the debates on artistic careers, social mobility and the strategies necessary for artists from marginalized groups to consolidate their professional careers.
