The present project is based on the hypothesis that the experience of shock – as theorized after the poem À une passante by Walter Benjamin and developed by Charles Baudelaire s scholars – can be linked to Giambattista Vico s notion of poetic wisdom by being understood as a critique of the centrality of the Cartesian logic in modern knowledge. At the same time, I am interested in the relations between the experience of shock and the notions of metaphor, symbol and correspondence, and the perspective of these agencies as tension points that question the conceptual bases usually linked to the idea of language. The project has a theoretical character and aims to articulate the concepts mentioned in order to support the hypothesis of the Baudelairean shock as a disruptive element in daily life.
