Resumo:
There are various reasons for consumer complaints, the majority of whichstem from negative consumption experiences. However, there exists a group of individuals who lodge complaints with the company without necessarily being dissatisfied, thereby generating what are known as fraudulent complaints.Fraudulent complaints occur when the consumer s objective is to obtain some monetary or social gain at the expense of the company. Despite the importance of this subject, few studies have been conducted on it in Brazil. The present study focuses on this type of behavior within the context of Brazilian airlines, while also examining Brazilian culture, including the concepts of malandragem and the jeitinho brasileiro. To that end, a qualitative study was conducted, employingin-depth interviews with 20 frequent air travelers, guided by the use of projective techniques. The data analysis reveals divergent opinions among the interviewees regarding fraudulent complaints, ranging from acceptance to rejection of opportunistic behaviors.
