Resumo:
This thesis aims to answer the question: How does the Marian face of the Church help us understand the Christian identity of the laity? The answer is structured in five parts: 1. Introduction: the origin, motivation, and meaning of the chosen theme, developed under the title: Marian Theology of the Laity: a look at the Christian identity of the laity in light of the Marian face of the Church. 2. The foundations of the Theology of the Laity: the contribution of the Second Vatican Council, the Conferences of the Latin American Episcopate, and documents of the CNBB, especially the document entitled Lay Christians in the Church and in society, salt of the earth and light of the world (Document 105). 3. The Marian face of the Church: Mary of Nazareth is situated within her historical and existential context, and we perceive that it is precisely in the experience of her daily life that the mystery of the Incarnation of God among us takes place. 4. Marian Theology of the Laity is the answer we seek for the guiding question. In this chapter, we have used the See-Judge-Act-Celebrate method, in which we recognize Mary s own method. We examine the various worlds in which laypeople live out the challenges of their vocation as salt and light. Then, we seek to answer: How does Mary illuminate the lay reality? Mary is a model for Christian laity; she is our mother and our sister, but above all, she is a woman and a layperson. We explore what it means that this is the time for the Marian laity in action and how we can celebrate this ministerial reality. 5. Conclusion: we aim to present the Marian Theology of the Laity clearly, concisely, and with a forward-looking perspective.
