Resumo:
This study aims to analyze how educational activities promoted by the Sesc Mesa Brasil - Rio de Janeiro program strengthen the work of social workers in social welfare institutions participating in this program, especially with regard to promoting food and nutritional security for the target audience. The research, which used a qualitative approach, used triangulation of methods, combining data production, theories and samples to substantiate the results. To collect information, an online form was applied via Google Forms, which was completed by 49 social workers. The study presents the foundations of the National Policy for Food and Nutrition Security (SAN) and analyzes the contribution of educational activities to the work of social workers, considering the multiplicity of content presented, participation in spaces for dialogue and encouragement of participation in public policies on SAN. Data interpretation was performed using the content analysis method. The results indicate a significant increase in the participation of social workers in SAN conferences and pre-conferences after their inclusion in the program s educational activities. Furthermore, all respondents recognize that the content taught directly contributes to qualifying their professional practice. The study highlights challenges to be overcome, such as the need to increase the protagonism of food and nutritional security within the professional practice of social workers to strengthen actions that promote concrete advances in the realization of the right to adequate and healthy food.
