Resumo: | |||||||||||||
The situation of women in the Global South has been marked by significant challenges, reflected in their growing financial dependence on government programs and male partners as providers. When they manage to enter the formal labor market in Brazil, women face economic discrimination through the devaluation of positions associated with female work, lower salaries compared to their male peers, and fewer opportunities for promotion and recognition - to name a few challenges. Understanding that gender disparity is even more evident in so-called male-dominated sectors, this research focuses on the technology segment of the Brazilian market. It is also known that even with higher educational levels, women face significant obstacles to advancing in high-value positions. By adopting a human-centered approach to address the complex issues of gender discrimination in the technology sector of the Brazilian labor market, this research explores the potential of service design by integrating it with design fiction to question social
reality and propose transformations within organizations. In addition, the influence
of the status quo and discriminatory biases in the design field itself is acknowledged, with perspectives from intersectional feminism presented to challenge discriminatory systems and imposed cultural norms. Based on these theoretical foundations, the research proposes an integrated methodology using semi-structured interviews and workshops to bring women professionals in technology closer to the development of desirable future scenarios for their careers in the sector, offering the opportunity to explore alternative paths to achieve gender equity in senior leadership roles.
