Resumo:
Mystical experiences, although difficult to define, are the core of biblical Christianity and should be sought by the faithful in the current context, where the search for an active spirituality has been weakened by secularization and independence from God. Based on several theologians who have written on this subject and based on the life, works and theology of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, this work seeks an answer as to the meaning that mystical experiences offer to Christians today, in order to help them live a more mystical and profound Christianity. The Christian mystical experience comprises the spiritual search of the faithful for the presence of God in an intentional but passive, irresistible, uncontrollable, indescribable and unmediated way. It is the pinnacle of spiritual experiences and, at the same time, the most elementary spiritual act. Prayer is the basic element of all religions and contemplation is what makes every religious experience a mystical experience in itself. Dietrich Bonhoeffer proposes, through his life experiences and biblical-theological reflections, a renewal of the practice of mystical experiences, taking them to the deepest part of the believer s private life, with a greater emphasis on the disciplined practice of mystical experiences, especially prayer and contemplation. His main proposals for rescuing the practice of mystical experiences in a more relevant way are the (re)learning of spiritual practices and the intimate experience of these practices in an attitude of invisibility, through solitude.
