Resumo:
In this work, an experimental study on the undrained strength characteristics of soft clay was conducted. Triaxial CIU and UU tests have been carried out on an undisturbed sample obtained from a careful field investigation program carried out in 2019 by Geoforma Eng. Ltda. This study aimed at estimating the undrained strength, Su, widely known as one of the most difficult parameters to define in geotechnical practice. A comparative analysis of Su results obtained in field and laboratory tests at a soft clay deposit at Santana Port, in the State of Amapá is presented herein, and a simple graphical method is proposed to determine which test is more suitable for obtaining Su. As the main conclusion, it was observed that a representative value of Su shall be obtained from CIU triaxial tests in the laboratory.
