Resumo:
One of the aims of this study is to encourage greater reflection on what exactly are the causes and effects of racism in football, which necessarily leads us to the most current concepts on the subject. Systemic or structural racism suggests that social structures are ready to systematically reproduce the racist concepts that operate in our society. Institutional racism, a kind of appendage of structural racism, exists in situations where there is a noticeable lack of black people in positions of leadership, whether in the public or private sector. This, more than a matter of merit, exposes a facet of racism that cannot be easily concealed, disguised, or masked because it is simply present and visible to the naked eye. Positional racism, a presumed form of neo-racism, as argued in this work, sparks debate and represents a way of identifying and naming a type of discrimination that occurs particularly in sports. Although it is an old reality, there is little national doctrine on the subject. It is, therefore, a description from a perspective of racism that seeks to demonstrate how certain racial groups are underrepresented in certain positions of social prestige and, at the same time, overrepresented in other positions considered of low prestige. The hypothesis we present, that racist conceptions from the playing field may reflect in the composition of leadership roles within the game, although more commonly discussed in doctrine, requires deeper analysis to understand the true reasons why black people, in general, are not found in the governance of sports around the world. This suggests that it is a concrete consequence of the racism that permeates, in the most surprising ways, football and some other sports.
