Resumo:
The project aims to develop an application that can be used to assist in solid waste management in Brazilian municipalities. The application will be called EcoGestão (EcoManagement). The purpose of the tool is to establish a multi-level communication forum that brings together the population, city hall, and solid waste collection service providers. For the development of the tool, research on solid waste management was conducted based on the municipality of Nilópolis, located in the Baixada Fluminense region, in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The city hall of this municipality is in the process of formulating the Municipal Solid Waste Plan. This process began in 2023 and is still ongoing. Therefore, as a secondary objective, this project aims to assist that city hall in maintaining, observing, and educating the population regarding the topic of solid waste and its management in the municipality. The intention is to create a communication platform that enables indicating and locating the occurrence of incorrect disposal, requesting the collection of specific solid waste, guiding the population on correct disposal and selective collection, sending announcements and guidelines to the population, and collaborating with the city hall in managing services directed at solid waste. The goal is, therefore, to help reduce incorrect disposal, facilitating the mitigation and elimination of local pollution and the occurrence of zoonoses, and also to assist in environmental education and the correct final destination of urban solid waste.
