Resumo: | |||||||||||||
Dementia has a profound impact on society and the people who live directly with
it. Family caregivers are among the social groups that feel the effects of the disease the
most. They suddenly find themselves in a new role: becoming caregivers for their loved
ones, which challenges their physical and mental abilities. With this in mind, this study
aimed to explore and formulate ways to improve the well-being, quality of life, and mutual
care of people living in highly changeable, uncertain, and potentially stressful situations.
In terms of structure, this project was divided into 4 phases: (1) a literature review on care,
ethics, Positive Design and Positive Psychology; (2) exploratory research with semistructured interviews, personality, well-being, and quality of life questionnaires, and an
application of a cultural probe with people living with dementia; (3) co-creation with the
implementation of workshops with researchers, caregivers, and health professionals to
propose recommendations to address the challenges of dementia; and (4) documentation
of good mutual care practices based on data triangulation. At the end of the research, it
was concluded that creative care combined with Positive Psychology and Design can
promote reciprocal and meaningful care for older people with dementia and their families,
helping to transform a potentially stressful and uncertain reality into a positive scenario.
