Resumo:
This study aims to present an analysis of the system of civil liability of social media platforms for acts committed by their users. To this end, it will discuss the emergence and evolution of social networks in Brazil, how they have become a prominent place in public debate and how this phenomenon has led to the spread of conflicts within these environments. Next, the paper will look at the system of liability actually established, first by the Courts, based on the legislation then in force, then by the Marco Civil da Internet - MCI (Law No. 12.965/2014), a specific law that came into force in 2014 and sought to establish the rights and duties of internet users. Finally, a critical analysis will be made of current initiatives that may modify the system of responsibility established by the MCI.
