Resumo:
Slam das Minas RJ: scenes and chronicles of a listening is a descriptive analytical study about a collective responsible for organizing poetic battles in Rio de Janeiro. It begins in the final stage at Largo do Machado, south of the city, in 2017, runs through the Covid-19 pandemic, and ends with the first in-person event after the pandemic, in March 2022. The text delves into the description of the events – whether face-to-face or virtual – and the questions that arise from this observation. It also presents excerpts of discussions – collected from a total of 535 minutes of interviews carried out with each member – with the aim of mapping these poetic voices, their personalities, interests and stories as an important part of the Slam Poetry movement in Brazil. The main queries of this investigation are: What happens when the poetry of Slam das Minas RJ takes to the streets? What solutions were found when the pandemic made face-to-face meetings impossible? And how do virtual events allow for new ways of listening? What issues concern poets during the pandemic? Finally: What is at stake when Slam das Minas RJ welcomes trans poets and celebrates the erotic love of gender disobedient people in the public scene? To discuss such themes, this investigation converses mainly with the Brazilian writer Conceição Evaristo, the poet and thinker (founder of the first Slam das Minas) Tatiana Nascimento, the argentine thinker and performance theorist Marcela A. Fuentes and the Spanish thinker Paul B. Preciado.
