Resumo: | |||||||||||||
The main question of this Master s thesis is the different social representations of youth in the 1980s in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The research is part of the experience of MuJuCa- Museu das Juventudes Cariocas, a project linked to the Department of Social Communication at PUC-Rio. There were selected three female informants from Rio de Janeiro, who completed 20 years old in the 1980s and who belong to three social strata and different neighborhoods: Santa Cruz, Ipanema and Urca.Methodologically, in addition to the bibliographical review in dialogue with authors such as Serge Moscovici, Michel Foucault, Pierre Bourdieu and José Machado Pais, among others, this research took as its method the qualitative perspective with in-depth interviews, based on three reports extracted from life stories, memories and consumption, both from media products and life styles, from specific experiences of Rio s youth. Even so, a participant observation was carried out in the implementation of a virtual museum.As a result, it was possible to construct a diversity of experience cities in Rio de Janeiro, evoked in the informants reports, constituting three social scenes. It is to infer that there is not only a possible imaginary of Rio youth from the 1980s, adopted in common sense as a brand linked to rock, the political issues of the time and the beach. The daily experience and the repertoires accumulated in circulation through the different cities represented point to continuities, but also to ruptures marked by contexts crossed by a single generation, but by many social fields.
