Resumo:
This research investigates forms of teaching-learning of character design that explore technological resources in a collaborative process. The study establishes a relationship between traditional drawing and character creation techniques and 3D techniques that use technological resources in a collaborative design process. Initially, a bibliographic review was carried out regarding the traditional concepts and techniques of drawing and character creation. Findings of the review showed that one of the most traditional creative processes of character design occurs through representations of geometric shapes as a reference to convey the intended physical and personality characteristics for the characters. Collaborative design concepts and on-line teaching-learning formats were also explored. Following in the investigation, three situations of on-line teaching-learning methods of character design were observed in order to identify positive points and difficulties related to the theme. Finally, experiments were conducted, from a Research through Design (RtD) approach, in order to contribute with new knowledge to the project practice, and with final remarks to elaborate a teaching-learning method and design production of characters, through a collaborative process using technological resources. In carrying out the experiments, we associate 3D digital sculpture techniques with traditional character creation techniques, seeking alternatives and solutions for the production and teaching-learning methods of character design. In the process, technological resources were explored such as 3D scanning, retopology, 3D modeling and digital sculpture, animation, 3D printing and virtual reality.
