Resumo:
With technological advances, several companies have adopted a business model focused on the decentralization of supply. Companies create environments that bring together and connect people with common interests (supply and demand). In this context, the company becomes the enabler of self-sufficient networks, allowing its users to buy and hire products and services directly from each other. The participants of these networks are constantly relating to strangers through digital interfaces and, in this scenario, it is essential that the platforms manage to assist in building trust between those involved. Various mechanisms are used by platforms to mediate connections and offer buyers viable ways to assess the risks and conditions that exist before deciding to move forward with a negotiation. This paper investigated the efficiency of the mechanisms used by platforms and how buyers behave during the trust-building process. To this end, this work surveyed the existing literature on the subject and applied a series of survey techniques for evaluation and discussion with users about these mechanisms, evaluating their effects and their effectiveness in stimulating trust. It can be concluded that interfaces are efficient means to help the buyer to analyze the reliability of the seller and to evaluate the risk of a purchase, but they are not totally sufficient to stimulate the concretization of a negotiation if there are no external guarantees from the provider that the negotiation will be successful. With this, the design field gains a theoretical set about the results and effects of the application of these mechanisms, helping in the decision making about which ones can be used to have the desired effect on users.
