Resumo:
This doctoral dissertation aims to investigate the meanings of animals present in print advertisements for a group of Brazilian advertising professionals. The ads analyzed by the group were selected from research that I did of the digital archive of ads with animals from Veja magazine selected between 1968 and 2018. The theoretical analysis of advertising narratives, of the ads published in Veja Magazine and of the discourse of the interviewed informants were based on the structuralism of Lévi-Strauss (2012[1962]), the studies on symbolism in bourgeois society by Marshall Sahlins (2003 [1976]), in addition to consumer anthropologists such as Douglas and Isherwood (2009 [1979]) and Rocha (1995, 2006)..
