Resumo: | |||||||||||||
The singer, songwriter, instrumentalist and writer Rita Lee is one of the great voices of her time. In more than 50 years of career, he reached the mark of 55 million records sold and considered one of the most important artists in Brazil still alive. This dissertation analyzes his work and is centered on two narrative
axes. The first part of the image that writer João Guimarães Rosa makes of the popular composer in the novel Recado do morro, in which the character Laudelim is the only one to understand and to explain the message of nature, composing a song and alerting his friend Pedro Orósio to who would be ambushed. In the 1960s, the popular song was on the rise as a space of communicational power. Based on this bias, we sought to analyze the messages existing in the work of Rita Lee. The songs of the Queen of rock would become an alternative narrative to the current hegemonic discourse, especially by the nonactivist
feminism contained in her lyrics, since both the press and society, in general, in the 60s / 70s / 80s, built a misogynistic and limited image of the figure of feminist and of the woman herself as a gender. In the second axis of the dissertation, the study starts from the concept created by Silviano Santiago, who
sees in Caetano Veloso a new paradigm of the pop star - one who is neither just a character, nor the common man, but the superstar. The study makes an adaptation of the concept and a comparison between the two artists, bringing up a figure of the superstar, a media figure formed by the combination of voice, body, performance and costumes, inseparable elements. In this chapter, an analysis of her costumes and performances is undertaken, concluding that Rita Lee built a work that produced a reorganization of the female image in the 20th century in Brazil.
