Resumo:
This dissertation chooses Gil Vicente, sixteenth century poet, as investigation object, seeking essentially to detach the discrepancies and the clerical deviations, in a time when the church loses its main position as the truth base. Several authors criticize the church, diverging in essential aspects since some of them long for a reform inside the church - Gil Vicente - and others desire the complete reform of its foundations - Erasmo of Rotterdam. The reality is privileged in Gil Vicente s creation, although he doesn t worry about its strict representation. His satirical theater, in spite of having evident contacts with history, is mainly marked by his ideological and moral positioning, centered in Medieval Christian values, in which he criticizes its degradation, and he presents the necessary qualifications for the entrance in a world of glory - the first world.
