Resumo:
This study focuses on Adolescents with Chronic Diseases: Reflections of Poverty in Health and aims to analyze, in a concrete and non-compartmentalized way, two complex themes that are closely related: poverty and health. The work seeks to analyze the reflexes of poverty in the chronic illness of adolescents, having as reference the Center for Adolescent Health Studies (NESA), which is constituted as a unit of the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ) and the University Hospital Pedro Ernesto (HUPE), being a national reference in adolescent health care. Among the main references used in this research we highlight: Garcia (2005), Behring and Boschetti (2000), Bravo (1996), among other authors. The relevance of the research is in the daily challenge that poverty imposes for the adolescent s health treatment and for the multidisciplinary team that accompanies him. The relevance of the research is in the daily challenge that poverty imposes for the adolescent s health treatment and for the multidisciplinary team that accompanies him. Based on the assistance provided by NESA, it was possible to observe that, despite the complexity of chronic illness in the adolescent s body, socioeconomic conditions, in many cases, were the greatest challenges for the individual, his family and the health team. Based on the assistance provided by NESA, it was possible to observe that, despite the complexity of chronic illness in the adolescent s body, socioeconomic conditions, in many cases, were the greatest challenges for the individual, his family and the health team. In order to carry out the research, the socioeconomic profile of adolescents with chronic diseases, seen at the outpatient clinic and at the NESA ward, was built, seeking to analyze the set of limits and possibilities of the adolescent and his family in facing the diagnosis, giving visibility to the collective demands of this reality complex to face.
