Resumo:
The present master research intends to investigate different discursive aspects about the feminine representations in the French society of century XVIII. In the first chapter, based on the entries found in the Encyclopedie, we observe the construction of the female figure and the interpretations regarding the capacities of women in that period. In the second, we study the contrary perceptions of the philosophers Rousseau and Condorcet in relation to women s abilities based on their treatises on education. And finally, our third chapter, presents the trajectory of Madame du Châtelet and, from her posthumous work On happiness published in 1779, we proposed to examine education as a proposal of happiness.
