Resumo: | |||||||||||||
The world market for electric power goes through a moment of great transformation with the emergence of new technologies for generation and distribution, deregulation, expansion of the free market and greater use of renewable energies, such as solar and wind. Analyzing the circumstances and characteristics that surround Light, a generator of electricity and an electric power distribution concessionaire for Rio de Janeiro Capital, Metropolitan Region and Vale do Paraíba, the company faces several challenges: energy thefts, need to respect indicators of distribution quality defined by the federal government, constant increases in tariffs that motivate end consumers to seek alternative sources and the risk of changing the law with a reduction in the minimum monthly consumption load of 750kW, which will allow more consumers to choose the energy source. In this sense, the purpose of this research is to verify if the strategy of Light is appropriate to the current context considering its performance in networks of alliances and its emphasis on innovation. The strategy to achieve this objective was through an extensive literature review of the innovation in the fields of business strategy and strategic alliances, survey with Light managers and the analysis of the results with adoption of the case study method using the SNA-IF framework of Macedo-Soares (2014, 2015). As a result, it became evident that at Light, its Innovation-Driven Quality Differentiation strategy can neutralize most of the current threats and efficiently exploit many of the opportunities through its alliance portfolio.
