This study maps excellence in environmental reporting in the principal
category of the Esso Journalism Award, from the year of the creation of the award, being 1956, up until 2015. Based on content analysis, we can determine how many news articles were awarded, in which years, from which organizations, and their stories and narrative strategies. Within this scope, the award-winning series of articles by Zuenir Ventura, The lost tracks in Chico Mendes Acre, published in Jornal do Brasil, will be analyzed. Drawing inspiration from Motta s Pragmatic Analysis of Journalistic Narrative, which understands narratives as organized strategies in the journalistic discourse, this research aims to contribute to journalism theory.
