Resumo:
In the oil industry, the so-called enhanced oil recovery methods are studied, which aim to improve the macroscopic scanning of the reservoir and reduce the residual oil saturation in the regions swept by the injection of the aqueous phase. This work presents a fundamental study of the process of injection of oil-water emulsions as an improved recovery method. The porous medium used in the studies was a glass bead packaging. The porous medium was initially saturated with oil. The oil displacement was performed through the sequential injection of water, emulsion and water. X-ray microtomography was used to determine the distribution of the aqueous and oily phases at the end of each step of the injection process. Processing of the 3D images obtained allowed the quantification of the effect of emulsion injection on the deviation of the preferred path of the aqueous phase and the distribution and size of residual oil ganglia, generating incremental recoveries in relation to a water injection.
