This research has as a theme the design studies and the production design s analysis method for audiovisual. The analysis will concentrate its efforts in a case study of the products directed by Luiz Fernando Carvalho, intending to understand how the production design will interfer in the creation of levels of realism in narrative. Therefore, the objects of analysis will be the following: his first feature film Lavoura Arcaica, the miniseries Capitu and Dois Irmãos; and the TV series Suburbia. The methodology developed has an interdisciplinary approach, seeking to ally distinguished aspects of the Design area, in Visual Communication perspective, and Communication area, in Media Studies perspective. Thus, we have as an assumption that the design perspective gives parameters of analysis for production design process, which shows the relations between different levels of realism in image.
