Resumo:
The present work analyze, through space and landscape, the different tourist potentialities of the municipality of Magé, in Baixada Fluminense of the state of Rio de Janeiro. The process of tourism that has been taking place by the state, altering the landscapes and redefining the existing patrimony in tourist attractions, calls us attention, and the municipality of Magé is inserted in the core of this process. Understanding the changes that are occurring and that may still occur in the Mageense space, due to the incipient tourism that is being carried out in the municipality, is fundamental for a geographic analysis and, with the intention of giving a theoretical-conceptual support, we will use, in the research, space, landscape, tourism, heritage and tourism potential. Magé has numerous natural attractions, several historical-cultural sights that together make up the municipality s heritage. Its heritage ranges from waterfalls, rivers and extensive areas of the Atlantic Forest to human constructions that express the culture of a people and their different forms of land appropriation. Notorious secular churches and many religious monuments, which overcome the time wear and the depredations caused by the population, come to witness the kind of sociocultural practice that has been taking place in this space over the years. The presence of the slaves, the life of soccer player Garrincha and the legend of the tree Mirindiba are some of the elements that mark the history and landscapes of Magé. Historical-cultural, religious and ecological tourism stands out in this area. All these patrimonial assets of Magé indicate tourist potentialities that are perceived by the agents of tourism as a generation of wealth for themselves and for the municipality.
