The objective of this tesis is to analise the relashionship between state and cinema in Venezuela, considering the states politics trought this field, the cinema, starting from the seventies of the twentieth century until the fundacion, in the goverment of Hugo Chávez Frías, of the Fundación Villa del cine, in 2006, that is part of the Plataforma cine Y Médios Audiovisuales, of the Ministério del Poder Popular para la Cultura. The atmosfere of culture effervence that flourished on the country during the sixties and seventies, composed the scenario where developed the clash between the state and the sectors of film industry. The disputes for the stablishment and development of the field, which culminated in the promulgation, in Venezuela, of the Law of Protection in 1993, are decisives to the country. The critique and socio-political tendency of the venezualan cinema is, indeed, deeply conected with this history of disputes and dificulties for the regulamentacion and acknowledgment of the field as an artistic and culture activity. The analised films reinforce that hipotesis because they dialogue with the nacional imaginary and put in focus the city of Caracas and theirs socials contradicions.
