Resumo:
This thesis approaches the symbolic manipulation of bodies on recent advertisements of the Brazilian Federal Government. After being socially appropriated and worked in the field of culture, the body (the most concrete materiality of a society) is reused by advertising and by its techniques as signs on the interested production of discourses that seek to affect the social construction of reality. More than this, for housing the cross between the individual and the collective, the body becomes a strategic symbolic dimension in order to think one of the main dilemmas that the sociability faces under the national State since its formation: the constant junction between parts and whole. The racial/ethnic code used to promote ideas about the Brazilian national identity (mixed) that erases differences and social hierarchies when the subject is national cohesion, also serves as the basis for the elaboration of speeches that confirm them under certain interested perspectives to a specific project of governance. Therefore, the research seeks to analyze qualitatively the social representations raised by the bodies that are present in the ads we have studied. For this, we have divided them into two great cores of meaning. Sides of the same coin, one refers to representations of brasilidade and of the fact of belonging to the nation, while the other articulates mechanisms of social classification.
