Resumo:
Through the phenomenological method, we sought to understand the role of status and display objects in a specific group of young people, residents of the Santa Marta community and participants of social project Spanta Neném (which seeks to integrate the community and the asphalt through music). Participation in Spanta makes young people have contact with other people and more privileged social classes environments. However, contrary to what many studies on the subject report, low-power conditions, which typically affect our lives between members of disparate social classes and lead to the acquisition of assets related to status to avoid social rejection can be overcome by cultural capital. The study found that talent for playing and teaching instruments of samba school of batteries, and break down barriers that might exist between subcultures of different social classes, puts young people in a prominent position, making transit, without prejudice or stigma, in different social environments.
