Resumo:
3D Visualization can be valid for different purposes. 2D visualizations can decrease the occlusion in specific parts, show undistorted angles and distances and enable precise positioning and navigation. Already the 3D visualization can provide an overview of the space, illustrate shapes of objects, offering precise notions of size and distance and support free navigation, and allows the user to understand how this place is in reality or quickly recognize it when the place is already known physically. Despite the advantages of the 3D environment, we are still encountering some challenges in this environment, such as the occlusion of objects, which, in an environment of real-time monitoring, can bring some dangers. The main objective of this research is to provide an environment that supports a scenario of industrial plants monitoring in real time, exploring techniques of information visualization and scientific data in an integrated environment that mixes 2D and 3D visualizations, determining how important information will be displayed to call the user’s attention through warnings about risky situations. Currently, this monitoring is made on a 2D space plant and some factors motivated the migration of this type of visualization for the 3D environment, such as ease the perception of the mapping to the action vision, communication between different teams who do not know the plant and the intention of, in the future, make the operation system an integrated part of other areas of expertise that already use this 3D environment. Thus, this study’s main research question is to investigate ways of combining these techniques and propose ways to handle the occlusion, the difficulties of navigation in the 3D environment and different ways to draw the user’s attention, considering both the events that are in his field of vision as those who are outside of his field of view (due to the possibility of free navigation).
