The purpose of this work is to make an evaluation of the
contamination by hexaclorociclohexane of the susbsoil, in a
former pesticide factory area, sited in Cidade dos Meninos,
Duque de Caxias. The basic hydrogeological conditions were
also determined. The soil sampling was made by percussion
drilling, using an adapted SPT sampler. Several piezometers
were installed to make water level measurements and
permeability tests. The soil samples were analised by gas
chromatography.
