This study examines the historiography produced on the state of Rio de
Janeiro between the 1930s and 1950. This period is marked by the establishment
of a political group, the amaralimo, who defended a draft soerguimento the state
based on the national scene in the revitalization of their traditional economic
activities. Associated with political and economic practices, built up a speech in
defense of local cultural traditions that promoted the production of historical
knowledge on the state. It was in this work, examining the relationship between
political projects and practices in the past period. The aim is also to define the
characteristics of this historiographical production: the establishment of
periodizações; the election of certain subjects, the documentary sources
recognized, namely the relationship between history and other disciplines so.
They built an identity works for Rio de Janeiro, themes addressed here. The
discussion of the historiography of the period fluminense amaralista took into
consideration the place of regional history in the construction of historical
knowledge as academic discipline.
