Resumo:
The main objective of this work is to use geostatistical methods to estimate the spatial variability of the soil index N, from the Standart Penetration Test, at the site where the nuclear power plant of Angra 2 is being built. Several variographic models could be obtained at different depth levels, varying from 1 to 15m, using the SPT values from 111 bore holes distributed in a 400x400 m 2 area. A cokriging method was also employed in order to infer the groundwater level from correlation involving the topographic data set. Comparisons made with the actual SPT values and estimates obtained from different sample meshes, show that geostatistical methods can be an invaluable tool for geotechnical problems where the variables show some spatial continuity.
