Resumo:
Divorces and separations rates increase each year in Brazil, mainly in large urban centers. Most part of the children live with their mothers after divorce. So, consequently, the number of mother-headed single-parent families increases too. Many studies focalize children`s point of view in this situation, as the effects of divorce on children`s development. However, there are few works that explore feminine experiences. The aim of this study is to fulfill this gap in literature, exploring divorced women with small child experiences. For that, it was performed a qualitative and descritive research, based on historical, social and cultural perpective of the Social Psychology. Nine middle class, between 30 to 44 years old women, divorced since 2 to 6 years, living in the city of Rio de Janeiro, with children until 8 years of age, were interviewed. Those interviews were taped, transcripted, and their content was analysed, resulting in 12 categories. Those analysed cathegories became the thems from participants relates, involving social life aspects, family relationships, affective-sexual relations, parental relations, relationship with ex-partner, profissional life, maternal fears, the concept of monoparental family, besides, family and parental idealization. In general, feminine relates showed a positive experience of the monoparental situation. Those women appeared to give value to a good relation with their sons and daughters, to the coherence in their decisions, and to look for an emotional familiar well-being, as well as personal satisfaction without priorizing matrimonial bound.
